Jan Woods’ health care career has spanned over thirty years in both human and veterinary medicine. Ms. Woods’ most recent positions in human healthcare were in senior management with national healthcare companies. She was the Vice President of Operations and Development for Care Net Health Systems based in Nashville, TN. and the Vice President of Operations and Development for Communicare and NBC HealthCare, based in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

In 2001, Ms. Woods moved into veterinary medicine as the Hospital Administrator for Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center of Kansas City, (VSEC). From May of 2004 through March of 2016, she was the Co-Owner, Hospital Administrator and Vice President of the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, (VSCT), a 24×7, 31 DVM, 100 employee specialty and emergency hospital. From 2018-2020 she was the Director of Education & Regulatory Affairs Manager for Cubex, LLC. In 2020, Jan became a Zoetis Key Opinion Leader and a member of the Epicur Pharma Advisory Council. She also joined Veterinary Business Advisors as their Regulatory and Operational Consultant and in 2023 she joined VetSnap, Inc. as their Regulatory Consultant. Jan also writes frequently for Veterinary Practice News and DVM 360. Jan owns two companies: And Jan For Help, LLC. and Veterinary Management and Marketing Specialists, Inc. Jan speaks and consults with veterinarians nationally on a full-time basis. M.B.A. Faculty – College of Veterinary Medicine; Director of Financial Literacy and Practice Outreach. Mr. Sanford teaches Practice Management at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine and consults with veterinarians in Georgia and across the country. He teaches specialized business education programs for veterinarians and has developed industry assessment tools including the Practice Performance Health Check, Strategic Marketing Assessment for Veterinary Practices, Activity Based Costing Analysis for Understanding Fees Structures and the Practice Valuation Assessment. Mr. Sanford piloted practice management rotations in 2007 at the UGACVM. Today nearly 500 students and 300 practices have participated in the rotations. Including rotations, he has evaluated over 1,000 practices. Many participating practices have had recorded revenue growth in excess of 30% a year and profits above 30% of gross. His accomplishments include assisting over 250 veterinarians start, buy and sell practices with a capital formation of over $800 million in loans. Mr. Sanford was the 2014 recipient of the Walter Barnard Hill Fellow Award which is UGA’s highest award for teaching and contributions to improving the quality of life in Georgia or elsewhere. He is currently working on his PhD in Adult Education.

Robbie van Mullem was raised in the Hammond, Louisiana area where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University while serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Robbie began his career in the animal health industry in 2003 with IDEXX Laboratories, where he earned the prestigious President’s Club Award and was promoted to manager for the Gulf States Region of IDEXX. Robbie van Mullem saw a significant void of veterinary-specific online management companies, and created his own in early 2010. He currently resides in South Louisiana with his wife and two children.
