Canine and Feline Heartworm Updates: Dirofilaria Diagnostic Dilemmas / February 27

This case-based session will summarize key clinical aspects of canine and feline heartworm. Geographic prevalence in dogs and cats, screening test recommendations, along with the complexities of diagnosis, prevention needs, and pet-owner communication tips will be discussed. The recently updated American Heartworm Society (AHS) and Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) guidelines will be reviewed.

Choosing the Right Pharmacological Therapies for Fear and Anxiety / March 1

Psychoactive medications or calming supplements can be a critical component in treating many patients with fear and anxiety issues. This session will provide an overview of the mechanisms and potential clinical uses of long- and short-term anxiolytic medications.

Patellar Luxation / March 2

This lecture will be discussing the pathophysiology for a variety of causes of MPL and LPL and why standard MPL correction is not always the answer.

FAQs

Are pets allowed in the lecture room/exhibit hall?

Pets are allowed but must be in a carrier or leashed and if they become a distraction or make excessive noise, they should leave the lecture rooms/exhibit hall immediately.

Are children allowed in lecture rooms?

No, children are not allowed in lecture rooms.

Do I need an attendee badge to enter the lecture rooms and exhibit hall?

Yes, everyone entering the lecture rooms or exhibit hall must have an attendee badge.

As a preregistered attendee what will I need when I get to the conference?

If you have preregistered for the conference you will pick up your name badge at the self pickup station.  You will find meal tickets that are required for all lunch meals in the exhibit hall as well as any other tickets you purchased for additional ticketed events.  If you purchased a printed proceeding’s book you will bring your ticket to the main MCVC registration desk to retrieve it.
